Anyone in the 1980's will appreciate the use of VHS which allowed video tapes to record personal and commercial video to be later viewed and distributed to family and friends.
A videotape would store both video and audio on a magnetic tape, which unfortunately, doesn't have a great storage life if it is not stored in proper climate conditions.
Video tapes were commonly inserted into a VCR but there were many other small forms of tapes that appeared in video camera, such as mini DV's, Video 8, Hi8, and VHS-C...just to name a few.
The playback time for these mediums varied based on the tape length and recording speed (SP, LP and EP).
Audio can be heard on a number of various audio formats, these include LP's, 1/4 Reel to Reel, Audio Cassette, Compact Disc (aka. CD) and various digital audio formats found on various portable devices.
